Engineering, Doctoral (and/or) Post Doctoral position in Structural Health Monitoring of Composite Propellers.

The position(s) are for qualified Engineers to work in the field of embedded sensing technologies mainly involving (but not limited to) Fibre Optic Distributed Sensing technologies. The work will be performed in the Composites and Smart Materials Laboratory (CSML), Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, http://csmlab.materials.uoi.gr.

The successful applicant will work in a HORIZON2020 project which is dedicated to Propellers with embedded Structural Health Monitoring functionalities for the Naval Industry. The project has a duration of 36 months and involves the design manufacturing and testing of Carbon Fibre Propellers both in small and full scale to be tested in operational environment.

Successful applicants should have an Engineering degree and excellent communication and writing skills in the English language. Prior experience in the field of Advanced Composite Materials, Structural Health Monitoring and Non-Destructive Evaluation would be desirable but not required.

The position is providing the opportunity to pursue a PhD in the field of Structural Health Monitoring of Advance Composite Structures.
In the case of Postdoctoral Researchers, a PhD in a relevant field is required and publications in peer-reviewed journal will be highly appreciated.
